Services > Start up practices

In line with, and in addition, to the full range of services we offer through our competitiveness consulting work (click here to learn more about our competitiveness services), and internationalization services (click here for more on this) we also offer specific services for professional service firms (PSFs) that facilitate the successful start up of new firms, offices, and/or practices.

Although the exact numbers are hard to come by, it is estimated that the start up of new PSFs and practices have a 50/50 chance of surviving for five years or more. The major reasons for failure are varied but two of the key factors are poor management and lack of planning. With the professional services sector this problem is exacerbated since professionals are by nature not ‘professional’ managers and PSFs are well known for their short term orientation and lack of planning.

We help increase your odds of success by providing services related to pre opening stage, launch and on going development. These include:

  • Business plan development
  • Feasibility studies and reports such as market potential
  • Coaching and guidance through the process
  • Marketing plan development and implementation
  • Partner identification and key contact introductions
  • Introductions and sourcing for ancillary services such as IT, design and production firms for web sites, stationary, brochures etc, company registration
  • Launch services such as events and PR activities
  • Other administrative assistance such as advice on regulatory issues
